To all my single friends out there,
“The Lord is not slow to fulfil his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you.” 2 Peter 3:9
I know that being single can be tough some days, and on other days when you see your friends go through breakups and divorces you silently say, “Thank you that I am single”.
Sometimes it is difficult to remain focused on our tasks at hand and it is hard to finish what we started because a really handsome guy or a very pretty girl comes across our paths and all we can think of is, “I want to be with that amazing person.” We end up leaving our tasks and goals to pursue this person and then to our horror discover that this person was never interested in us, or chose to date my best friend, or simply left without any explanation to go study or work elsewhere.
That’s when we realise our life is a mess because we left everything for, what turned out to be, nothing in the end. And it definitely was not worth it.
My advice is always, when you meet someone you feel you want to have in your life, do not stop living. Do not give up your goals and dreams for this person. Keep doing your daily tasks. Remain committed and focused. Don’t let go of everything in your life, but keep going as you always have. But see this person as an added blessing to your already blessed life.
Never forget that what you have now as a single is a very big blessing on its own already. Count your blessings. Thank God for your job, your family, your friends, your church, your finances, your car, and everything else that is important to you. Keep working at your relationship with God, grow stronger in him and remain focused on His Word daily.
And never stop praying. Pray that God will help you to remain focused and calm. Trust in Him to bring you and your future spouse together at the right time in your life. Pray that God will prepare you to be a good wife or good husband to your future spouse. And pray for your future spouse even while you are still single.
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourselves over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices.” Psalm 37:7
“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22
My prayer is that you be so blessed during this season of singleness. May your prayers be heard and your dreams come true. May God give you the ability to remain focused and patient. May you grow stronger and wiser through your relationship with God.
